Essay No.1: Pakistan Affairs 'Trek to Pakistan' (March 8, 2021)

Book: Trek to Pakistan by Ahmad Saeed Chapters Covered: 1/ War of Independence 2/ Sir Sayyid Ahmad Khan   Upon opening and reading the history books of Russia, France, or America, we would come across words such as ‘Empires’ ‘World Wars’ ‘Revolutions’. Independence there came through newer discoveries of geography, or rebellious revolutions that freed them from their dictating rulers, or through the succession of peace among the enemies after the bloody wars. Pakistan, however, is a different story; independence here came through a different kind of struggle. The history of Pakistan can be divided from the point of its partition from the United India, into pre and post partition. Pakistan was non-existence, neither her name nor her idea, until the united nations of Hindu, Muslim, and Sikhs lived mostly prosperous lives under the Moghul Empire. Although a kingdom ruled by kings, the common people of the Moghul Empire were content since their cultures were preserved and th...

Compulsory Course One: Pakistan Affairs

Our preparation begins with the first compulsory course, Pakistan Affiars, which carries 100 marks. Running through the past papers of Pak Affairs, we saw that the questions were portioned into main categories: historical and contemporary. Our preparation strategy for this course also reflects this pattern. Here's how it'll go. We have selected a set of three books to start our 'perspective building' preparation for this course. 'Trek to Pakistan' would help us cover the pre-partition, while 'Pakistan, a new history' and 'Pakistan Paradox' would help us understand the post-partition Pakistan. All three books, possibly more too, would cover the historical background of the subject. As for the current affairs, sources such as newspapers, magazines, and YouTube channels would be reffered.  Our aim is to wrap this course up in March or Mid-April. Since it is only for the sake of building a perspective, we do not assume we would need any rigorous prep...

CSS Together: An Introduction

I, Ejaz, Qamar, Mohsin and Arif have decided upon preparing for the Central Superior Services exams, which is an annual job exam for the Civil Cervices postings, starting from Grade 17. Both highly reputable and tightly secure, CSS attracts hundreds of aspirants from all over Pakistan every year; similarly, we are no exceptions. Though our motives differ - I, for one, want to see if I am capable of passing this exam that has become a hallmark for checking if one has got it or not, whereas Arif's intention most likely would be to clear it and get wroking, and Qamar and Mohsin would certainly have their own driving narratives - the common and ultimate goal is to be fully prepared for the next year, 2022's, exam and give it all we've got. Thoughts aside, the practical plan is to start a combined preparation for the six compulsory papers, which make up for 600 marks (total 1200), since all these papers would be same for each of the members. Pak Affairs, Current Affair, Gen Know...
